Women's Lacrosse hosts St. Lawrence in first round of Liberty League Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 3 RIT women's lacrosse team will host No. 6 St. Lawrence in the first round of the 2025 Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Tuesday (April 29) at 2:30 p.m.

About RIT:
RIT makes its first appearance in the Liberty League Tournament since 2018. The Tigers beat St. Lawrence 13-9 in Saturday's regular season finale to earn the third seed. Junior Milena Stephen tied her career high, scoring four goals and winning 11 draw controls. Junior Jenna Bovenzi recorded a career high six points on two goals and four assists. Junior Ellie Ruddy made five saves while first year Grace McDonald made nine saves in the second half.
 
RIT leads the Liberty League averaging 14.07 goals per game and is ninth allowing 12.33 goals per contest. The Tigers lead the conference averaging 17.87 draw controls per game, ninth averaging 16.53 ground balls per game and 11th causing 6.67 turnovers per contest.
 
Senior Lily DePalma leads the team and is tied for third in the league with 65 points. She is tied for third in the conference with 49 goals and is third, averaging 3.27 goals per game. Junior Morgan Nichter is second on the team and seventh in the Liberty League with 61 points. She is tied for third in the conference with 49 goals averaging 3.27 goals per game. Junior Zoe Heffernan is third on the team with 58 points and is second in the Liberty League in assists (29) averaging 1.93 assists per game. Bovenzi is fourth in scoring with 35 points and is seventh in the league with 19 assists.
 
Sophomore Katherine Killian leads RIT with 100 draw controls, 21 caused turnovers and 48 ground balls. She is second in the Liberty League averaging 6.67 draw controls per game, third averaging 3.20 ground balls per game and ninth averaging 1.40 caused turnovers per contest. Junior Adele Jones is second on the team with 66 draw controls and 26 ground balls. She is eighth in the league averaging 4.40 draw controls per game. Senior Jane Hudson is second on the team with 14 caused turnovers.
 
First year Grace McDonald is 8-2 with a 12.32 goals-against average and a .462 save percentage. Junior Ellie Ruddy is 2-3 with a 12.36 goals-against average and a .424 save percentage.
 
About St. Lawrence:
St. Lawrence finished the regular season with a 7-9 record and went 4-3 in Liberty League play to earn the No. 6 seed. Junior Caroline Hamilton, sophomore Phoebe Spaeth and senior Neve Ley each scored two goals in the Saints 13-9 loss to RIT, Saturday. Sophomore Keira Dodd had two assists and first year Zoe Froimovitz made five saves in net for the Saints.
 
St. Lawrence is tenth in the Liberty League averaging 8.38 goals per game and fourth allowing 9.81 goals per contest. The Saints lead the league averaging 12.50 caused turnovers per game, second scooping up 20.13 ground balls per contest and 11th causing 9.31 turnovers per game.
 
Junior Jessica LaPlaca leads St. Lawrence with 46 points on 33 goals and 13 assists. Ley is second on the team with 26 points (22g, 4a) and first year Cate Rathnam is third with 19 points (15g, 4a). Spaeth (13g, 4a) and Hamilton (12g, 3a) are tied for fourth in the team with 16 points apiece.
 
Senior Brigette Gable leads the team and the Liberty League with 31 caused turnovers and is second in the league with 49 ground balls. Junior Kelsey O'Brien is second on the team and ninth in the league with 21 caused turnovers. Ley leads the Saints with 47 draw controls. Froimovitz is 6-9 with a 10.05 goals-against average and a .433 save percentage.
 
The winner of Tuesday's first round game advances to the semifinals and will play the winner between No. 2 Ithaca and No. 7 Vassar on Friday (May 2) at the highest seed.
