Baseball falls to Clarkson in extra innings, 6-5
POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team lost, 6-5, on the road to Clarkson in an 11-inning game, Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With two outs in the bottom of the first, Clarkson's Aidan Kuefner scored off a single from Cam Jerrett.
- Junior outfielder Jackson Rusiecki drove in sophomore catcher Isaac Braegelmann on a single to left field to tie the game in the top of the third inning.
- Trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, graduate student John Bagley was brought home with a Dodig single to right field to tie the game again.
- RIT took the lead in the seventh with runs from Dodig and Rusiecki.
- The Golden Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead back, making it 5-4.
- In the top of the ninth, junior outfielder Caelan Kim hit a solo home run over the left field fence to tie the game.
- Clarkson broke the stalemate in the bottom of the eleventh inning with two outs when James Chagnon singled to right field, which allowed Joe Figliolino to score from third base.
GAME NOTES
- Kim's home run in the ninth inning is his second of both the season and career.
- Both Dodig and Rusiecki ended the day with a game-high three hits.
- The loss puts the Tigers' conference record at 8-5 and 19-9 overall.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will play a doubleheader against Clarkson tomorrow (Apr. 18) with the first game scheduled for 11 a.m.
